Global alternative credit manager Highland Capital Management has hired Brad Eden as the firm’s global head of marketing and investor relations.
Eden will be focused on expanding the firm’s institutional platform, including the establishment of a custom institutional investment offering designed to provide customized solutions to meet institutional investors’ needs, the company said in a statement.
The position is new. Eden will work with Terry Jones, president of institutional products at Highland, who joined the company in late October.
Eden brings more than 30 years of experience to the role, including co-founding Fund Evaluation Group and leading corporate development at a $2 billion credit-focused asset management and private equity firm. He was also involved in the launch of a number of hedge funds and asset management firms with specialties ranging from emerging markets to long/short equity, Highland said.
“There is a clear and profound shift in the industry,” said Mr. Jones. “The needs and expectations of investors are changing, making some traditional institutional products and manager relationships increasingly obsolete. Brad’s background, the time he’s spent working with all types of individuals and organizations – asset managers, investment consultants, institutions – has prepared him to capitalize on this inflection point.”
Dallas-based Highland was founded in 1993 by by Dondero and Mark Okada. Together with its affiliates, the firm has approximately $17 billion in assets under management. The company specializes in credit strategies, such as credit hedge funds, long only funds and separate accounts, distressed and special situation private equity, and CLOs.
